Stronger for Longer

The strength you build now is the life you get later.

This is not about getting a gym body

I work with women in their fifties, sixties and beyond at Horizon in Guildford, and almost none of them came to me wanting to look different. They came because something small had shifted. A jar that wouldn’t open. Stairs that needed the handrail. Kneeling down in the garden and finding the getting up harder than it used to be.

None of that is permanent. Most of it comes down to muscle, and muscle responds to training at every age. That is simply how the body works. Women who strength train in their fifties and sixties get stronger, steadier and more confident on their feet. I watch it happen every week.

What strength training does for you

Lifting weights, properly taught and starting from where you are, rebuilds strength you thought was gone and protects your bones: strength work is one of the few things that genuinely supports bone density after menopause. Your skeleton adapts to what you ask of it.

It also steadies your balance, because falls are about strength and reaction time, and both can be trained. And every session is built around real life: floor to standing, carrying, reaching, climbing stairs with ease. The strength you build here is the strength your week actually uses.

What a first session looks like

It is as much a conversation as a workout. No test to pass, no lycra required, and nothing to prepare. We talk about your body’s history, the knees, the back, the things you’ve been told to be careful with, and what you want the next few years to look like. Then we try some movement together, so you can feel how I coach and I can see where you’re starting from.

And to be clear: this is not a sales pitch dressed up as a chat. If I don’t think I’m the right fit for you, I’ll tell you, and you’ll still leave with something useful. Sessions are one-to-one at Horizon Guildford, you don’t need to be a member, and mornings and daytimes are available.

“Am I too old to start?”

No. Strength can be built in your 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond, and the research backs this up again and again. The only way to be too late is never to start. If you can get to Guildford, I can work with you.

A free taster session is a good place to start. It’s relaxed and friendly: we talk about your body’s history, try some movement together, and there’s no obligation either way. Use the button below and I’ll be in touch.

What You Can Expect Working With Me

When you train with me, you're not just getting a workout you're getting a partner in your transformation. I'm the trainer who celebrates your first proper push-up as much as your first pull-up. I'm here for the tough days when motivation is low and the breakthrough moments when everything clicks.

I believe in honest conversations about your goals, realistic timelines for results, and celebrating every victory along the way. My clients often tell me they feel stronger, more confident, and more capable than they have in years and that's exactly what I want for you.
